Heres the Jimny loaded on a truck.

So anyhoo.

I set about cutting the rear off.

I made the cut 90mm back from the door shut line.....trimmed the outer and then pondered the inner.

So there are three layers of metal to be cut through and then be joined back together....homogenous like.

My cunning plan was to weld the inner and outer to the outer edges of a 16g strip....and weld through the holes to tie in the centre panel.

Never forget the seatbelt needs to go back in and to feel safe it needs to be a secure item.

So with that done I moved to the corner trims.

I stripped the rear door out fully....it can be lifted with a little finger at that point.
I loosely fitted it with a few tacks and made a couple of panels as can be seen here.

Next was to make a rear panel....some corrugations and a little bit of fancy to make it easier on the eye.

Further trim panels made and fitted to ease the transition.

I've never liked the way that the Jimny trayback is finished at the rear corners so I gave my take on how I'd like it.

So with the back closed back to the inside.....some panels needed.

Still remembering the seatbelt has to go back in and that I want to put some trim back in to tidy it up a little.

The measurements on the panel were for cutting it out of what was left of the rear inner panel.

A little further along.

Seatbelt has a home so I decided to reduce the noise levels in the cab.
